configuring virtualbox

  • with Tools selected, click New
    • under the Virtual machine Name and Operating System heading
      • for Name enter Arch
      • for ISO Image select archlinux-...-x86_64.iso
      • for Type select Linux
      • for Version select Arch Linux (64-bit)
    • click Next
    • under the Hardware heading
      • for Base Memory enter 8192 MB
      • for Processors enter 4
    • click Next
    • under the Virtual Hard disk heading
      • select Create a Virtual Hard Disk now
        • for Disk Size enter 32 GB
        • check off Pre-allocate Full Size
    • click Next
    • click Finish
  • with Arch selected, click Settings
    • click General
      • click Advanced
        • for Shared Clipboard select Bidirectional
        • for Drag'n'Drop select Bidirectional
    • click System
      • click Motherboard
        • under the Extended Features heading, check off Enable EFI (special OSes only)
      • click Processor
        • under the Extended Features heading, check off Enable PAE/NX
    • click Display
      • click Screen
        • for Video Memory enter 128 MB
        • under the Extended Features heading, check off Enable 3D Acceleration
    • click Network
      • click Adapter 1
        • under the Enable Network Adapter heading, for Attached to select Bridged Adapter
    • click USB
      • under the Enable USB Controller heading, select USB 3.0 (xHCI) Controller
    • click Ok
